Life Was Good Today...

Although the summer seems to have already come and gone, Leon and I took full advantage of it while it was here! For Memorial Day, we went to the lake with our friends, Anna and Bryan, and spent the day riding around on their boat on beautiful Lake Martin. We found a great rope swing and enjoyed it for a while and then went skiing, well, I attempted and was not very successful. In June we went kayaking on the Coosa River with a group of friends and had a great time. Kayaking is one of my favorite things to do and we couldn't have asked for a better day to go.

During July, Leon and I attended my family reunion at Ft. Rucker. We also took a trip to Destin with our good friends, Rob and Mary Alice. We had a great weekend of just lieing on the dock soaking up the sun and swimming in the bay. Rob also cooked us all a great meal of fresh crabs he caught in his crab traps and red snapper. While we were there Penny took her first swimming lesson. She is a very fast swimmer but I'm not sure if that's because she wanted to get out of the water or because she was just good at it.

I also took a trip to Orange Beach one weekend with my family and we had a great time enjoying the sun and the sand. The Robbins, the family I lived with in Mobile, brought their boat over and we spent the day riding around the bay and the intracoastal waterway. It was so much fun to get to spend time with them. They are like another set of parents to me and always treated me like their own child when I lived with them. Leon was on call for work that weekend so unfortunatly he was not able to come with me, but I think he secretly enjoyed the time to himself.

Our summer has also consisted of a lot of softball and baseball. For anyone who knows Leon this should come as no surprise. Leon played softball for our church team, Taylor Road Baptist Church. They won first place for their division. Leon also played baseball for the Montgomery Metro Baseball League on the Dodgers team. This league basically consists of a lot of guys who played ball in college and who still love to play the game. The Dodgers won first place, a win that
was well deserved and much earned by all the boys on the team.
We have also attended several weddings this summer. One of which was that of some of our good childhood friends, Brittany Folmar and Cody Eiland. It was a beautiful wedding and we are
always very excited to see our friends happy and married as we are!

Now, as the summer winds down we are gearing up for football season! I know many of you are too and I'm sure this season will prove to be an interesting one for all teams involved.

Just a Thought

Just a thought: More often than not I find myself and many others simply wishing their lifes away. What I mean is we often find ourselves at work wishing we were at home (I'm extremely guilty of this) or when we're at home we wish we were out with friends or when we're out with friends we wish we were back at home. I guess what I'm trying to say is we are always wanting something else or to be somewhere esle. Maybe we (myself included) should all just stop and thank God that we are were we are and he has put us here for a reason. Just a thought. Take from it what you will!
